Meet Pat Van Grinsven

Pat Van Grinsven, Director, is based in Marathon’s Chicago office and responsible for originating and executing M&A and capital raise engagements in the clean energy, sustainable technology, and infrastructure markets.

Mr. Van Grinsven has advised on several significant transactions in the renewable power and cleantech space including the sale of standalone energy storage developer East Point Energy to Equinor, the sale of Aypa Power (f/k/a NRStor C&I) to Blackstone, and the sale of Peak Clean Energy to hep Global, as well as advising Tenaska on the establishment of a development partnership with Capital Dynamics for a 2 GW standalone energy storage portfolio in CAISO, and Wunder on a large-scale C&I solar financing partnership with ClearGen, a Blackstone Credit portfolio company.

Prior to joining Marathon, Mr. Van Grinsven worked for Delphos International, an emerging markets-focused financial advisory firm in Washington, D.C., where he raised debt and equity capital for clients in sectors including renewable and conventional energy, financial services, and agribusiness.

Mr. Van Grinsven received his BA in World Politics from Hamilton College and his MA in International Relations and International Economics with concentrations in Finance and Energy from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). Mr. Van Grinsven holds Series 63 and 79 licenses.
