Meet Nick Valby
Nick Valby is an Associate at Marathon Capital. He is responsible for conducting research and due diligence, authoring marketing and offering material, and preparing detailed financial analyses supporting Marathon Capital’s senior bankers.
Mr. Valby interned with Marathon as a Summer Associate in 2022. Prior to this internship, he completed an internship at ARPA-E, a U.S. Department of Energy division, where he analyzed how electric power utilities adopt advanced energy technologies. Mr. Valby’s synthesized findings and final recommendations were in support of programs focused on long-duration energy storage and carbon capture and sequestration technologies. Before that, he worked as a Business Operations Manager at Gregg & Valby, LLP, a Houston-based law firm specializing in nationwide regulatory compliance and documenting residential and commercial loan transactions. Mr. Valby oversaw daily business operations, including the closing, funding, and delivery of loans into the secondary mortgage market.
Mr. Valby earned dual MEM and MBA degrees from Duke University, with concentrations in Energy and the Environment, Energy Finance, and Corporate Finance. He earned his BA in History from the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Valby is fluent in Spanish and holds Series 63 and 79 licenses.
