Meet Mark McDonald
Mark McDonald, Vice President at Marathon Capital, is responsible for executing M&A and capital raise engagements in the renewable energy and power sectors, conducting due diligence, and supporting Marathon Capital's relationship management responsibilities. He has over six years of experience in corporate and project finance-related roles, largely within the energy industry.
Prior to Marathon, Mark was Director of Investment and Business Management at Invenergy where he focused on M&A and corporate finance, including raising equity for a 160 MW solar project in GA, raising a corporate debt facility for Volta Industries, a portfolio company of Energize Ventures, recapitalizing Invenergy’s natural gas-fired business, selling four wind farms totaling 201 MW in Quebec, structuring a joint venture to repower two 150 MW Texas wind farms, selling a 70 MW wind farm in Scotland, and raising preferred equity and mezzanine debt to finance a 1,485 MW natural gas-fired plant in PJM. Prior to Invenergy, Mark spent two years at Robert W. Baird, a leading middle-market investment bank, and spent four years at GE Energy where he advised clients on power system design and renewable energy integration challenges.
Mr. McDonald holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. Mr. McDonald holds his Series 63 and 79 licenses.
