Meet John Wisniewski

John Wisniewski is a Vice President, Tax & Structuring. He is responsible for executing M&A, capital raise, private placement, and tax equity engagements in the renewable energy and power sectors, providing technical tax and structuring support across a variety of Marathon Capital engagements, conducting due diligence, and supporting Marathon Capital’s relationship management responsibilities. Since joining the firm in 2014, Mr. Wisniewski has worked on a variety of corporate and asset or portfolio level transactions, including M&A advisory, Tax Equity and partnership structuring, and capital raises for select clients including New Jersey Resources, Innogy SE, ENGIE, NextEra Energy Resources, AES Distributed Energy, Wind Capital Group, Mexico Power Group, FLS Energy and Empower Energies. Mr. Wisniewski is also a co-author of several Marathon Capital White Papers, including U.S. Federal Corporate Tax Reform – Potential Impact on U.S. Renewable Energy Financing and Tax Cuts and Jobs Act – Impact on U.S. Renewable Energy Financing.

 
Prior to joining Marathon Capital, Mr. Wisniewski was a Senior Associate on the finance team at SoCore Energy, a solar distributed generation developer. While at SoCore, Mr. Wisniewski was responsible for a number of roles including structuring leveraged finance and Tax Equity transactions and managing the acquisition process of the company by Edison International. Previously, Mr. Wisniewski was an Analyst in the Global Industrials Investment Banking Group at Citi, where he worked on a variety of mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, and debt and equity financings in the metals and mining, diversified industrials and automotive industry sectors.
 
Mr. Wisniewski graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he received a B.S. in Finance with Highest Honors distinction. Mr. Wisniewski holds his Series 63 and 79 licenses.
